Overview

The Blendtec Total Blender is not just a blender, it is a high-powered food processing machine capable of blending most everything to make smoothies, fresh juice, bread dough, ice-cream, nut butters, dressings, milkshakes, mixed-drinks, salsas, soup and more. The big claim of the Blendtec Total Blender is that it can replace up to 9 appliances. The Blendtec Total Blender has entered the home market to compete directly with the popular Vitamix 5200.

Performance

Blendtec Blenders have risen to the top of the hill in power. With a 3 horsepower motor drawing 13 amps / 1560 watts, the Blendtec Total Blender is the most powerful blender made for the home. Power comes at a price; not only does it use the most energy to run but it is also the loudest blender we have used with reported noise levels above 100 dB (decibels). With a square jar and a 2-prong blade that can spin up to 300 mph, the Blendtec Total Blender easily creates a powerful vortex able to blend most anything and break through plant cell walls.

Controls

Blentec presents a microprocessor controlled system with Smart-Touch Tec-nology. The control pad of the Total Blender has 9 push buttons for pulse, speed up, speed down and 6 pre-programmed cycles. The speed up/down rotates through the Blendtec Total Blender’s 10 speeds while each of the 6 program buttons begin an automatic pre-set blending cycle. During the cycle the Total Blender speeds up and slows down as until it reaches the end program cycle and shuts off. This tends to be a big selling point for those who like technology and the ability to push a button and walk away. In addition to the control pad there is a separate power switch on the back of the base.

Blendtec Containers

The Blendtec Total Blender comes standard with a square BPA-Free 64-ounce co-polyester jar with a 3-inch blade. The jar is recommended for wet and dry blending applications. Also available is Blendtec’s 3-quart Wildside Jar with a 4-inch blade for taking care of large volumes.
